Hey,
This evening, I went to Compline, which is a prayer evening
at St. John’s church, with mum so we could relax and destress after an
afternoon of filling in forms. This evening is set out so that we sit in a
circle (on chairs) around a candle that is lit in the middle.
We read ‘Psalm 91’ in a way that got everyone involved and
felt like a prayer which was nice. The person leading would read a verse and
then we would read the next verse together. We did this continuously until the
end.
As we sat in silence, we listened to the reading ‘Acts 17-21’.
We then listened to a prayer, and here is part of it that stood out to me;
“guard us while sleeping, that awake we may watch with Christ
and asleep may rest in peace.”
It then came to prayer, where the leader read a sentence,
and then left a space of silence to say a prayer ourselves out loud that
related to the sentence. Here are the prayers that stood out to me;
o
to guide those who will be chosen to lead tomorrow
and for a peaceful vote
o
to use resources of creation for the good of
creation
o
to bless all God’s people whatever their circumstances
and finally
This was a lovely and relaxing event that I enjoyed, especially
doing it with my mum.
