Iceland

 Hi All,

Sorry for the delay.

I have been promising to get back to regular update and almost always disappoint because quite frantly life happens.

In this new year I will try and post something ever month. Let's see what happens.

Anyway, this is about my trip to Iceland that I took last summer (2022).

This trip was the first trip I have taken without family. When I went to Japan and Singapore and had family waiting for me on the other side. However, I wasn't truely alone as I went with the Christian group Oakhall and meet some friendly, amazing people.

When we first arrived in Iceland when were treated to the natural beauty of the country and saw some horse ride right passed our coach.

For my first full day in Iceland, I got a true taste for the Icelandic weather as it was a cold and wet day. We went on a tour of the South Coast: Museum, waterfalls, puffins, black beach and a glacier.

By the end of this holiday, I had lost count of how many different waterfalls I had seen but they were all amazing and unique.

The black beach had some incredible waves ‘sneaky waves’. You had to dodge these waves as it’s not safe to stay in the water due to strong currents.

The glacier was a spectacular view.

Visit to Landmannalauguar.

A walk to see the extraordinary views

and then a relaxing time in the natrual hot pools.

Jeep tour:

glacier,

canyon,

waterfalls

and a hike.

A walk up a volcano to see the then recent erruption. It was quite the hike.

Visit to Westmann islands.

A hike a walk by the coast.

Puffins and Beluga whales in a sanctuary.

And even a visit from an Orca whale on the way back to the coach.

Day at Reykjavik

A visit to the viking museum learning about there different faiths including christianity. Apparently the viking in charge of recording the rules decreed one day that they were no longer allowed to be caught worshiping other God and only the one God from the christian faith. However, it was over looked if they worshiped other Gods in their own homes as long as they were not caught doing so. I also visited an Art gallery which had some interesting pieces.

Whale watching where we saw Minke and humpback whales and even got to see some dolphins.

Last day to vistit another waterfall, Gulffoss

and a Geysir.

On the way to the airport we stopped at the Blue Lagoon where some of the group enjoyed a spa treatment and relaxing in the water and others including myself enjoyed a leisurely walk.

I hope you have enjoyed reading about my sensational trip to Iceland.

Fill free to leave a comment.

Maybe telling me about your own trip to Iceland or some place you loved exploring.

See you next time.
