Tale of two sons

Hey,

So I went to the evening service at my church back in Plymouth and the talk was done by David and was about, as you likely guessed the tale of two sons.

Matthew 21:28-32

"'What do you think? There was a man who had two sons'. He went to the first and said 'Son, go and work today in the vineyard.' 'I will not' he answered, but later he changed his mind and went. 'Then the father went to the other son and said the same thing. He answered, 'I will, sir', but he did not go. 'Which of the two did what his father wanted?' 'The first' they answered. Jesus said 'Truly I tell you, the tax collectors and the prostitutes are entering the kingdom of God ahead of you. For John came to you to show you the way of righteousness, and you did not believe him, but the tax collectors and the prostitutes did. And even after you saw this, you did not repent and believe him."

Both of his sons brought both Joy and Sorrow to their father but the first brought sorrow and then Joy has him had a change of heart and went to work as his father asked.

Acts 11:18

"When they heard this, they had no further objections and praised God, saying, 'So then, even to Gentiles God has granted repentance that leads to life.'"

Whereas the second son brought Joy and the Sorrow as the son told his father that he would work but then he never got round to doing it. How many of you have said you would do something but never got round to doing it, I know I have.

It's nice when your children talk to you, God wants you to come talk to him. Sometime was forget to pray and sometime on our journeys we promise and forget. So we just need to remember that God is our father and hes want us to talk to him and so listen to him.

My Guardian

Hey,

So sorry about the delay but have been bust moving in to my new house in Plymouth ready for when University starts.

Anyway this service reading read by Megan and Sophie was 1 Samuel 17 which is long and therefore I am going to share the verses that stuck out for me but I would recommend that you read the whole passage.

1 Samuel 17:10

"The Philistine said, 'This day I defy the armies of Israel! Give me a man and let us fight each other.'"

1 Samuel 17:32-35

"David said to Saul 'Let no one lose heart on account of this Philistine; your servant will go and fight him.' Saul replied, 'You are not able to go against this Philistine and fight him; you are only a young man, and he has been a warrior from his youth.' But David said to Saul, 'Your servant has been keeping his father's sheep. When a lion or a bear came and carried off a sheep from the flock, I went after it, struck it and rescued the sheep from its mouth. When it turned on me, I seized it by its hair, struck it and killed it."

1 Samuel 17:45-47

"David said to the Philistine, 'You come against me with sword and spear and javelin, but I come against you in the name of the lord almighty, the God of the armies of Israel, whom you have defied. This day the lord will deliver you into my hands, and i'll strike you down and cut off your head. This very day I will give the carcasses of the Philistines army to the birds and the wild animals, and the whole world will know that there is a God in Israel. All those gathered here will know that it is not by sword or spear that the lord saves; for the battle is the lord's and he will give all of you into our hands.'"

1 Samuel 17:50

"So David triumphed over the Philistine with a sling and a stone; without a sword in his hand he struck down the Philistine and killed him."

The talk today about this reading was done by Gal at my home church, St John's - Knights Meadows

God's Representative

Life may seem daunting at times as well as what God is asking you to do, but this could be because it is something new but it could also be because it is difficult. Maybe you would ask for the situation you are in, maybe it's an illness, unemployment and a break down of an important relationship whether a close friend or family member or others.

Faithful waiting

Maybe you are in a period of waiting like David. He looked after the sheep from his fathers flock before joining the fight. David was called by God to be an united king spirit. You should trust in God as David did and not your own capability.

1 Timothy 2:5

"For there is one God and one mediator between God and mankind, the man Christ Jesus."

The Challenge

Looks like it is a loosing battle. For David the threat was substantial as they were fight not to become slaves and person the was up against was intimating and he probably felt trapped in fear and getting lost in hope.

Fresh Perspective

This gives us hope. David brings a key ingredient which is a confidence and faith in God. He listens and feels that it is no challenge for God even it may be for you.

What about us?

I you are invited to a wedding in Thailand and you can't make it you have to send a friend of yours to be an ambassador for you as apologies are not enough.

I am an everyday ambassador of God! We are God's representatives.

Hebrews 12:2-3

"Fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith. For the joy that was set before him he endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. Consider him who endured such opposition from sinners, so that you will not grow weary and lose heart."

What do you think might me your 5 stones that God has already given you?

How he loves us

Hey,

So today was another church service but I didn't make it to this one as I had a tummy ache and was tired.

However, mum told me a bit about what she had learned which was that God created us in his image so we should not focus on what's on the outside but the inside as it's what's on the inside that counts.

This sounds like something a parent would say but if you think about it God is the ultimate father and he loves every single one of you just the way you are.

1 Samuel 16:7

"But the lord said to Samuel 'Do not consider his appearance or his height, for I have rejected him. The lord does not look at the things people look at. People look at the outward appearance, but the lord looks at the heart."

Mum also told me about a new song she heard in the service that she liked, I listened to it an felt like I should share it.

Devon

Hey,

So I spent 2 weeks in Devon at my grandma's to visit them as well as get my accommodation for university next year sorted out. Anyway I have been to Devon many times and I is an amazing place but the main reason I am writing a post on it is to showcase my photography.

I spent 2 days at 'China Blue', 1 with mum, grandma, granddad and sister and the other with my cousin, Maria who was also visiting grandma (for a week). I painted 2 places; 1 of my time in Singapore an the other of my time in Australia.

Another day was spent in Torbay where we spent the day shopping. We split into 2 groups so I spent the day shopping with Maria and Nicola. I managed to get some stuff for my second year at university as well as getting some clothes, tops to be exact.

I also spent a day at 'Paington Zoo' which I have obviously been there before, I was actually a member for 2 years, the zoo never get old, anyway the main reason we went were to see the babies. They had 2 lion cubs, 1 tiger cub, I think 4 baby monkeys and more.

One day, Sunday, we went out to dinner and I have some lovely photos that I felt like sharing.

I spent another day, well afternoon at a Abbey which included the gardens. Afterwards we went to have lunch, well afternoon tea. We then went on a little walk that was lovely.

As the weather was so good we spent more than one day at the beach, well many as there are more than one beach in Paington. Some beaches you are allowed dogs on and other you aren't so we went to different ones and sometimes we had the dog with us and other times we didn't and wanted a change.

Thanks for reading, fill free to leave your opinions in the comments
